Dolores Anderson

Dolores Anderson, 89, of Alvarado, MN, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND, with her family by her side.

Dolores Lee (Hanson) Anderson was born September 24, 1932 to John and Ollie Hanson in Sioux Falls, SD. Dolores started 1st grade at a rural school. Before the year was up, the family returned to Sioux Falls and she finished 1st through 6th grade at Benjamin Franklin School. She attended 7th and 8th grades at Whittier School, and in 1950, she graduated from Washington High School.

Dolores attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis and Christian Workers Institute in Sioux Falls where she met and married Leland Anderson. They lived briefly in Sioux Falls before moving to the Red River Valley. They made their home in rural Alvarado where they farmed and Leland owned and operated a crop spraying business. She spent the last three years living at the Good Samaritan Heritage Grove.

Dolores was a lifelong member of the Assemblies of God Church where she served in various capacities. She was also a member of the Agassiz Swedish Heritage Society.

Dolores loved to scrapbook and keep record of all the family happenings. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, spending time with her family, and helping to keep the farm running.

Dolores is survived by her children, Ransel (Dawn) Anderson of Alvarado, Rhonda (David) Thompson of Charlotte, NC, and Rochelle Anderson of Eagan, MN; five grandchildren, Bethany (Nathan) Johnson of Fargo, ND, Timothy (Sarah) Anderson of Powell Butte, OR, Melody (Jacob) Weber of Savage, MN, Amanda (Spencer) Jay, and Philip (Stephanie) Thompson both of Charlotte, NC; six great-grandchildren; Aiden and Grace Johnson, Callee and Amelia Weber, Paige and Greta Anderson; nieces, Valaura (David) Steele of Lacey, WA, Orlynda (Robert) Goodman of Columbia Falls, MT, Ladonna Richardson of Helena, MT, Sonya Barger of Beaverton, OR, and Jodell (Ruel) Johnson, Ellika and Annika of Moorhead, MN; nephew, Joel (Amy) Anderson, Jacob and Justin of Alvarado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents; sister, Verona (Samuel) Barger; sister-in-law, Bernice Anderson; and brother-in law, Harlen (Marie) Anderson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in DuBore Funeral Home Chapel.
VISITATION: Starting at 12:30 PM, prior to the service.
LUNCHEON: To follow in Assemblies of God Church Hall, Warren, MN.
INTERMENT: Oak Lawn Cemetery, Alvarado, MN.
