Donald Vansickle

Donald “Don” Vansickle, 95, of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday morning, September 22, 2023 after a brief stay at North Star Manor.

Donald Andrew Vansickle was born on May 30, 1928 in rural Warren, the son of Andrew and Clara (Heller) Vansickle. He was raised in Warren and he graduated from Warren High School in 1946. Donald was a life long farmer who farmed between Warren and Argyle, MN. Over the years, he farmed with his father, Andrew, brother, Dennis and later his son, James. Donald married Betty Wilson on April 12, 1947 and they made their home in Warren. On November 3, 1989, he married Shirley Ann Oas.

He was member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Eagles Club.

Donny thoroughly enjoyed agriculture. Vansickle Farms won the Master Farmer award in 1967. He enjoyed gardening, reading books and following politics. Donny loved spending time with family and friends. He was known to spend time visiting at the post office over the years.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Shirley; children, Charlotte Strickler of Moorhead, MN, Donna (Mike) Franks, Linda (Randy) Huderle and James (Lisa) Vansickle all of Warren, MN; stepdaughters, Kathryn Grandbois and Susan Enge both of Henderson, NV; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Clara; sister, Muriel (Dale “Bud”) Forslund; brother, Dennis (Darlene) VanSickle and former wife, Betty Vansickle.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services.

INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN.
