Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy M. Johnson, 86, passed away on April 19, 2019 under the care of hospice at Valley Elder Care, Grand Forks, ND.

Dorothy Molstad was born June 23, 1932 in Thief River Falls, MN to Oliver and Lena (Riedl) Molstad. She was raised on the family farm near Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Dorothy was united in marriage to Kermit M. Johnson on April 8, 1951 and they made their home on a farm east of Argyle, MN where they raised their five children, farmed small grains and raised beef and dairy cattle.

In addition to being a farm wife and homemaker, Dorothy worked various jobs at the Old Mill State Park for many years. She was an accomplished seamstress and in later life enjoyed quilting with the Our Savior's Lutheran quilting group in Warren, MN.

Dorothy is survived by son, Gary W. (Beverly) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; daughters, Donna (Robert) Rost, Grand Forks, ND, Deanna (Paul) Mayland, Fargo, ND, Karen (Gerald) Riopelle, St. Bonifacius, MN; daughter-in-law Maryrose Johnson, East Grand Forks, MN; sister, Betty Woolman, Needles, CA; sister-in-laws, Marlys Molstad, Grand Forks, ND and Sharon Molstad, Thief River Falls, MN; sixteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kermit; son, Kenneth M. Johnson; brothers, Earl, Oliver, Jr. and Larry Molstad; brothers and sister-in-laws Clebert (Betty) Molstad, Clayton (MaDonna) Molstad; sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann (Ralph) Swanson and an uncle, Albert Molstad.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: Alma Lutheran Cemetery, rural Argyle, MN.
