Duane Edward Pagnac, 79, of Argyle, MN, passed away on October 26, 2024, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with his loved ones close by.
Duane was born in Crookston, MN, on September 18, 1945, the fifth of six children, to Edward and Leah (Deschene) Pagnac. He graduated from Argyle High School in 1964 and went into the United States Army in October of 1965. Duane completed a one year tour in Vietnam earning multiple decorations, was a long-time member of the American Legion, and proudly displayed the American flag at his home. He was a lifetime lover of farming, tended the local ice-skating rink, delivery driver for General Tobacco, and retired following 22 years at Motor Coach Industries.
He enjoyed his family, farming, fishing, camping, cards, and Tom and Jerry’s at Christmas. He had no qualms about fixing or modifying anything to ensure it worked as he saw fit.
He was known to be strong-willed, loved sharing a boisterous laugh, cooking with gadgets, strong, hard-working, stern foot but a strong heart and dedicated dog owner.
He married Avis Setterholm, the mother of his three oldest children, in1966. He later married the love of his life, Marion Rector on June 22, 1984. Marion brought Cheryl into his life and together they had Meredith to complete their blended family. He lived most of his life in Argyle surrounding areas with a few memorable months in Killeen, Texas, during his military service.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marion; children, Ronda Owens, Michael (Stephanie) Pagnac, Lee (Cheri) Pagnac, Cheryl (Jesse) Greenwaldt, and Meredith (Daniel) Eddy; and cherished grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Storey, Austin (Molly) Owens, Carson Pagnac, Brady (fiancé Kylar) Pagnac, Carly Pagnac, Ashley (TJ) Thresher, Callie Greenwaldt, and Connor Greenwaldt; great-grandchildren Brayden Thresher, Noah Heidel, Kynzi Thresher, Shanel Bushby, Avery and Emmett Storey and Marley Owens. He is also survived by his older brothers, Elmer (Doreen) Pagnac and Denis (Diane) Pagnac, and younger brother Kenneth (Nancy) Pagnac; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Leah Pagnac; brother, Clarence; beloved sister Verla; and son-in-law Daniel Eddy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to Argyle Fire & Rescue or the Argyle American Legion Post #353.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Argyle, MN.
VISITATION: On hour prior to Mass.
INTERMENT: St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Argyle.
