Elizabeth "Eliz" Porter Obituary

Elizabeth Ann (Anderson) Porter, 87, of Warren, MN passed away at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ with her family and her companion, Emerson, at her side on January 27th, 2024.

Elizabeth was born June 24th, 1936, the first of four children born to Clarence and Opal (Smith) Anderson of Clifford, ND. She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing and after graduating, pursued her nursing career at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, Roseau Hospital in Roseau, MN, and spending the last 50 years of her career at the Warren Hospital in Warren, MN. Church and school were influential in developing the amazing lady she became.

Elizabeth married William Porter of Hannah, ND on October 26, 1958 in Clifford, ND. They lived in Grand Forks, ND for a short time while William completed his degree in education. They moved to Badger, MN for his first teaching job and then to Warren, MN in 1962 where they raised their four children. William passed away in 2012 and Elizabeth continued to live in Warren and winter in Mesa. She met Emerson Linton in Mesa in 2018 and they both treasured the time they had together traveling and enjoying life.

Elizabeth chose to spend her time surrounded by family and friends and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, summer trips, children's activities, time at the trailer at Rocky Point and winters spent enjoying the warmth in Mesa, AZ. She was very active in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Warren, MN; Home Makers, Mawami Club, Our Saviors Lutheran Church Circle, American Legion Aux., 4-H Leader, and was instrumental in getting Lifeline set up in Warren.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Sharon Whitmer (Fritz), Sheyenne, ND; Karen (Rick) Reyhl, Suttons Bay, MI; Keith (Sandy) Porter, Staples, MN; Kenneth (Deb) Porter, Bigfork, MN; Grandchildren: Brent (Jenna) Helseth; Sarah (Taylor) Williams; Justin (Jill) Reyhl; Luke (Hitomi) Reyhl; Noah (Rachelle) Reyhl; Autumn (Josh) Mosher; Kurt (Kate) Porter; Michael (Keely) Porter; Nick (Keira) Porter; Kindee Porter; Kendra Porter, 20 great grandchildren, her companion for the last 8 years, Emerson Linton of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and sisters: Joan (John) Smith and Patty (Mike) Elliott, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Clarence and Opal Anderson; her brother, Alton Anderson and granddaughter-in-law, Tiffany Porter.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.

VISITATION: 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

INTERMENT: Next to her husband, William, in Greenwood Cemetery.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, North Valley Health Center, North Valley Health Center Ambulance or Warren Volunteer Fire Department.
