Frances Fanfulik Obituary

Frances Fanfulik, 97, of Angus, MN, died on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in North Star Manor of Warren, MN.

Frances Lou Pinkerton was born on February 28, 1928, in Langdon, ND, to James and Ora (Thom) Pinkerton. The family moved about when she was a girl, following her dad's various ventures, living in Wales and Emerado, ND, before moving to Warren, MN. She graduated from Warren High School in 1946 and moved to Minneapolis for secretary work. On November 21, 1949, Frances was married to Joseph Fanfulik in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN. The parish would become her spiritual home for the next sixty years as she raised her children in the faith with a convert's zeal.

On the homestead in Angus, Frances was a true Farm Wife. She did the usual cooking, cleaning, and washing, while also hauling grain and filling in wherever she was needed to make the operation run smoothly. All told, she was probably the hardest working one there. After the kids were old enough, Frances became the postmaster in Angus, and was active in the Warren community, with her time concentrated around the American Legion. She was the originator of Friday Night Suppers at the Legion, was an Auxiliary President (and held just about every other position), a 9th District Secretary, and helped with the Junior Auxiliary whenever possible. A steadfast presence in the lives of those she loved, Frances made time for every one of her children's events in high school and beyond. Joseph died on November 10, 1990, and Frances continued on her own in Angus until moving to the senior apartments ten years ago.

In addition to her primary legacy of family and service, Frances also leaves behind an overwhelming amount of scrapbook supplies and projects.

Frances is survived by her children, Rhonda (Randy) Berg, Cameron (Joanne) Fanfulik, and Brian Fanfulik; five grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Flagg, Aaron (Gana) Berg, Dillon (Stephanie) Berg, Heather Swanson, and Jennifer Swanson; great-grandchildren, Mila, Roman, Frances Rose, Madison, and Taylor; and a brother, Richard “Shake” Pinkerton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, James and Ora; grandson, Michael Swanson; and siblings, Jacqueline, James, Margaret, Thomas, and Carol.
