Gerald Kiesow Obituary
Gerald Henry Kiesow, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2022 at his home in Warren, Minnesota. He was born July 16, 1943 in Thief River Falls, to Henry and Vivian (St. Martin) Kiesow. He graduated from Goodridge High School in 1961. He went on with further schooling at Bemidji State University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters in Education. On May 25, 1967 he married Kathleen J Lannoye in Thief River Falls.
Gerald was employed for many years as a teacher at the Warren Elementary school. He enjoyed all of his students and is remembered for reading “Where the Red Fern Grows,” often showing his students that as an adult it is okay to cry.
Gerald is survived by his wife Becky (Nelson) Kiesow and his two children, Gwendolen Olson (Trent) of Flagstaff, AZ and Shane Kiesow (Nicole) of Mesa, AZ.; four grandchildren; one brother Dennis Kiesow (Sue) of Eagan MN and one sister Amy Charboneau (Larry) of Alexandria, MN; two step children, Kara MacDonald (John) of Bemidji, MN and Bradley Nelson (Nicole) of Bemidji, MN; ten step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vivian Kiesow.
Gerald, a.k.a. “Gerry,” knew life was precious. He spent a lot of his time outdoors at his childhood farm and seeking greatness in all the things he created and repaired. Although Gerry always worked hard and stayed very busy, he was generous with his heart. He will be remembered for his warm personality and smile, confidence in all things including seeing the good of the human spirit in everyone. Gerry was truly a gift from God, and will continue to live in the hearts of many friends, former students, family and grandchildren, whom he cherished with all his heart.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour before services.
INTERMENT: At approximately 1:30 PM at Jerusalem Cemetery in rural Goodridge, MN
