Gerald “Jerry” Jevning, 88, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2025 in Woodbury, MN with his family by his side.
Gerald Olaf Jevning was born on December 23, 1936 in Drayton, ND, the son of Olaf and Pearl Evelyn (Peterson) Jevning. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Jerry graduated from Hallock High School in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1957 – 1960 where he was an accounting specialist. Gerald was stationed in Korea, Chicago, IL and Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann “Suzie” Jevning on June 3, 1961 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN for a short period of time before they moved to Warren. Jerry had several jobs and occupations including working at the Hallock Bakery, Kittson County, sold insurance, pots, pans and shoes (not all at once), drove UPS truck. He founded a gravel trucking business an aerial ag service, CAP Manufacturing and was a long time farmer. Jerry and Suzie enjoyed wintering in Mesa, AZ for many years.
He was very active in his community. Jerry was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was a Council Member, and on the Call Committee. He was also on the Warren Volunteer Ambulance Service, was a member of the Warren Jaycees, Eagles Club and Warren Riverside Golf Course and served on the board of the Marshall County Co–Op. Jerry was named Master Farmer in 1997.
Jerry had many interests and hobbies including farming, golfing, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, hitting the casino, tinkering, singing with his family and helping others. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Grateful to have shared his life are his wife of almost 64 years, Suzie; two daughters, Jeriann Jevning-Jones (Brian) of Woodbury, MN and Jennifer Paumen (Eric) of Inver Grove Heights, MN; five grandchildren, Kajsa Jones-Higgins (Galen) of St. Paul, MN, Mara Jones of Minneapolis, MN, Tegan Jones- NewKirk (Kyle) of Minneapolis, MN, Alex Paumen of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Bridget Paumen of Inver Grove Heights, MN; great-granddaughter, Ada Higgins; sister, Catherine (Dick) Johnson of Kennedy, MN and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Evelyn Jevning and brothers and sisters, Loyce (John) Hoglin, Erlyce (Alden) Blomquist, Shirley (Jim Pagnac and Rodney Petersburg), Allen Jevning, Wayne Jevning, Lowell Jevning, Dian (John) Reich and Jimmy (Bobbi) Jevning.
FUNERAL SERVICE; 11:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
