Gladys Horning, age 105, of Warren, MN, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021, in North Valley Health Center, Warren.
Gladys was born on January 13, 1916, in Mellette, SD, to John and Pearl (Grange) Cleveland. She graduated from Mellette High School in 1934 and attended Northern Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. She then taught in a one-room schoolhouse for five years. In 1942, Gladys was married to Curtis Bardell in California. She was widowed in 1944, when Curtis was killed in action in the South Pacific during WWII. In 1946, Gladys was married to Lawrence Horning, a returning soldier, in Mellette. They moved to Warren in 1948 to be near the Grange side of the family, and had two children, Richard and Coralie.
Gladys is survived by her children, Richard (Renae) Horning, and Coralie (Don) Jones; five grandchildren, Missy Jones, Mark (Amy) Jones, Patrick (Val) Jones, Kari (Trent) Strube, and Kolby (Kaila) Horning; ten great-grandchildren, Christopher, Evan, Thomas, Isabel, Jordyn, Jayden, Jenna, Jameson, Stella, and Theo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; sister, Erma Holm; infant grandson, Richard Lawrence; and infant great-granddaughters, Aubrey Nicole and Briley Renae.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in Grace United Methodist Church, Warren, MN: masks will be required in the church.
VISITATION: One hour prior.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN
