Glenn Everett Johnson was born January 28, 1931 in Grygla, MN, the son of Axel and Ethel (Karlstrom) Johnson. He spent his early years in the Gatzke area before moving with his family to the “River Farm” near St. Hilaire, MN when he was 13. Glenn graduated from Thief River Falls High School in Thief River Falls, MN in 1949 where he was in choir and lettered in track. He attended vocational school for two years in Thief River Falls. Glenn served in the US Navy from 1952 – 1955 as an Electronic Technician. After his discharge, he attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU).
