Gloria Fagerlund, 73, of Grand Forks, ND, went to her Glory a few hours before the Glory of Easter, on Holy Saturday evening, April 19, 2025, in her home, with her family by her side.
Gloria Jean was born on January 3, 1952, in Warren, MN, to Gerald and Janet (Johnson) Carlson. She was raised in Alvarado, MN, graduating from the local high school in 1970 and receiving her degree from Moorhead State in 1974. From girlhood, Gloria loved music and played music for church her whole life long. She was married to John Bartlette in 1976, and the family moved around the area, living in East Grand Forks the longest. Her daughter and three sons have fond memories of a caring mother who kept their house full of music, animals (dogs, cats, and birds), and love. Gloria worked for Upper Valley Special Education starting in the 1980s, and truly enjoyed working with children. Over the years Gloria chipped away at Masters Degree, earning hers in 1995 from UND. She worked as a speech pathologist, specializing in children with Autism, and traveled to many regional schools offering the gift of her education and her kind and guiding hand.
In 1999, Gloria was married to David Fagerlund, whom she met at church. The two were active in the American Legion (Auxiliary) and enjoyed watching the Vikings, tending to their menagerie of animals, and going to garage sales and antiquing. Gloria was an expert camper, and when she couldn't travel, would set up a tent in backyard and “rough it.” Her home always had a “project room,” that included Gloria's stamp of creativity and, often, drying paint. In 2017 she retired as a teacher from Emerado School.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, music, and care for all she met.
Gloria is survived by her husband, David; children, Paul (Carrie) Bartlette of Arlington, MN, Michael (Allie) Bartlette of Goodhue, MN, Kristy (Greg) Kehler of Morden, MB, and Thomas (Jennifer) Bartlette of Pasadena, MD; step-children, Mary Beth (Michael) Frederick, Charlie (Lauren) Fagerlund, and Anna Lopez Diaz; nine grandchildren, Connor & Hannah, Axel, August, & Brinley, Madison, Sakura & Sam, and Francis; and her sisters, Jane (Gordon) Skjerven and Julie (Jerome) Mall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Janet Carlson; and granddaughter, Molly Bartlette.
