Helen Jackson

Helen Jackson, 87, of Warren, MN, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023, in Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.

Helen Ilene was born on June 15, 1935, in Newfolden, MN, the eldest daughter of Helmer and Irene (Robison) Tallum. She moved to Warren at the age of ten and lived nearly the rest of her life there. She graduated from Warren High School with the class of 1953, and was married to Kenneth Jackson on December 18, 1954, in her parents' home. The young couple raised their children in a little house that was always big enough for one more guest or relative. She enjoyed making their house into a home and taught herself any number of skills and crafts that made her daughters' childhoods so special. Helen was proud to be a caregiver all her life. She was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother.

When the children were older, Helen worked many jobs including one for Elda Palmer, as an accountant, as a clerk in the courthouse, part time for Hillman Construction, for Warren Tire Service, and then at the USDA-FSA Office from 1978 to retirement in October 1997. Helen kept busy reading alongside Kenneth, doing cross-stitch, and traveling with Arden and JoAnn Sundby. In her later years, Helen enjoyed word puzzles and doing detailed adult coloring books.

Even as her memory faded, Helen loved her family and knew of their love for her.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Sue (Duane) Palm of Colstrip, MT, Kim (Steve) Renslow of Grand Forks, and Shelley ( Ken) Popiel of Grafton, ND; two grandchildren Sarah (Kristin) Palm of Owatonna, MN, and Nicholas (Diana) Palm of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Greta, William, and Elia; and siblings, Janice Hestekind of Newfolden, Ruth Vanek of Thief River Falls, David (Patty) Tallum of Newfolden, and Doris Flanagan of Thief River Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth, who died ten years to the day of Helen's funeral: January 12, 2013; an infant son, Michael; sister, Anna Vixie; nephew, Chris Vixie; and four brothers-in-law.
 

Memorials are Preferred to The Godel Memorial Library or the WAO Ed Foundation, both of Warren.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM, in DuBore Funeral Home Chapel, Warren, MN.
VISITATION: One hour prior.
INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, MN.
