Ione (Berg) Brosdahl Anderson

Ione Brosdahl Anderson, age 90, “went home” after a long and busy life, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, in Warroad Senior Living.

Ione Sarah Berg was born on March 14, 1933, to Thorvald and Ellen (Johnson) Berg. She was raised on a farm in Strandquist with her extended family including her grandparents, aunts, and uncles. It was here that she learned to value strong family ties and to engage in her faith in a deep way. After completing her education in Hallock, MN, Ione went to beauty school. On April 8, 1953, Ione was married to Dale Brosdahl. They made their home on the Brosdahl family farm in Alma Township, where they began their growing family. In 1964, they moved into Argyle where she ran Ione's Clips and Curls. Those early years were spent keeping up with nearby relatives and making memories camping as a family. Dale died unexpectedly of an aneurysm in October of 1977, after which Ione raised eight children on her own.

The family moved to Warren, MN, where Ione worked at the Good Samaritan Home as a nurses aide. She was blessed to marry again, and she and Richard Anderson (who was in her Confirmation class as a child), were married on June 17, 1994 and moved to Viking, MN. Her circuit of regional towns wasn't complete, as following many happy years and Richard's passing in 2013, Ione moved to Warroad to be closer to most of her children. She was always busy; whether baking and canning, or looking after grandkids, cats, or the birds out the window; Ione lived every moment to the fullest.

Her long life will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jerilyn (Charles) Pletsch, Julie (Dwayne) Stich, Paul (Sharon) Brosdahl, Jodi (John) Helle, Steve (Nita) Brosdahl, Jon (Esther Brosdahl, and Jaime (Brandy) Brosdahl; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kristi, Ericka, Ashley, Patrick, Erin, Michael, Kathryn, Trista, Travis, Stacy, Kimberly, Briann, Drake, Val, and Aaron; several great and great-great grandchildren; and her special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Dale and Richard; Ione was preceded in death by a son, David; daughter, Stacy; granddaughter, Michelle; and siblings, Gerald Berg and Grace Lillequist.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 11: 00 AM, in Alma Lutheran Church, rural Argyle, MN.
VISITATION: one hour prior.
INTERMENT: in the church cemetery.
