Irene Miska Obituary

Irene Miska, 96, formerly of Tabor, MN, died on New Year's Day, 2020, in Green Pine Acres Home, Menagha, MN, from complications after the flu.

Irene Rose Kliner was born to Ben and Rose (Holy) Kliner on August 28, 1923. As the youngest of 6 children she grew up on farms near Euclid. She attended country grade school and then the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. During WWII, she went to St Cloud to work at the Char-Gale plant as a "Rosey the Riveter" building fuselages for C-46 aircraft for the war effort.

Upon returning home, she married Richard Miska on July 25,1945 in Euclid, making their home on a farm near Tabor. She was a busy farm wife raising 5 boys, keeping a huge garden that she shared with many, being instrumental in the farming operation and driving a combine for 35 years. She also sold Tupperware, was on the church council and made many "trips to town". She and Richard loved to travel in their Winnebago. They spent several winters in Hot Springs, AR and later in Mesa, AZ.

Irene was a member of the Tabor Holy Trinity Altar Society, secretary for the Lady Foresters, member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles where she and Richard loved to dance. Irene was very proud of her Czech heritage and that she loved to make and serve kolaches. After Richard's death in 2000, she moved to assisted livings in Grand Forks, Moorhead and Menahga. She checked herself into Green Pine Acres Home in 2011, where she died.

She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Bernard in 1970; grandson, Ryan; daughters-in-law, Mardy and Gloria Miska; and all of her siblings, John, Walter (Mary), Elsie (George) Duden, Herbert (Helen) Kliner, and Sylvia (Leo) Diedrich.

She is survived by sons, DeWayne (Lorraine) of Euclid, Ernest (Brenda) of Alexandria, Joel (Tammie) of Williston, ND, and Kevin (Karen) of Menagha; grandchildren, Karen (Curtis) Reitmeier, Judy (Charlie) Schmitt, Jonathan, Cole, Ben (Kari), Rachel, Dylan and Abby; 7 great grandchildren.
