James "Jim" Bubb Obituary

James “Jim” Bubb, 88, of rural East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home.

James Martin Bubb was born on January 8, 1932 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Matthew Sr. and Molly (Herzog) Bubb. He was raised in the Alvarado, MN area and he graduated from Alvarado High School in 1949. James served in the US Army from 1952 -1954. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean War and survived the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. On July 12, 1957, he married Marcy (Olstad) Ritland. They made their home in Alvarado where James farmed in the area. In 1972, they moved their family to a farm in rural East Grand Forks. In his later years, Jim painted with his best friend, Art Yanish. Marcy died on June 2, 2017.

He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and the Alvarado American Legion Post #35.

Jim enjoyed hunting and also buying, trading and repairing guns.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Kandas (Steve) Diamond of Akron, CO, Timothy (Valerie) Ritland of Moorhead, MN, Kimberly (Calvin) Kuhn of Dickinson, ND, Michael (Catherine) Bubb of Alvarado, MN and Andrea (Marshal) Albright of Fargo, ND; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; sister, Rose (Ken)Ferencik and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcy; brothers, Art, Tom and Matthew Jr. and sister, Delores Barton.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Private family services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

INTERMENT: Next to his wife, Marcy, in Nyskoga Cemetery in rural East Grand Forks, MN.

MILITARY SERVICE BY: Alvarado American Legion Post #35 and Minnesota Honor Guard
