James "Jim" Liedberg

James “Jim” Liedberg, 61, of Warren, MN, passed away on Monday evening, November 8, 2021 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

James Steven Liedberg was born on November 23, 1959 in Karlstad, MN, the son of Norman C. and Alpha V. (Risteigen) Liedberg. He was raised in rural Argyle where he was baptized at Alma Free Lutheran Church. Jim attended school at Thief River Falls Public Schools. In 1987 Jim moved to the Marshall County Group Homes – Marshall Place in Warren. He worked at the ODC where he assembled bird toys, cleaned at several businesses and churches and worked on crafts. For 30 years Jim also worked at Dale's Foods in Warren a day or two a week stocking onions and potatoes. He enjoyed working at Dale’s but even more he enjoyed visiting with all the customers. Jim also served as an usher at First Lutheran Church, his home church as an adult. 

Jim and housemates and dear friends Darin, Jack and Wayne were frequent attendees at Warren community events. They rarely missed an opportunity to attend a Pony athletic event where they cheered on the home team.

He loved watching old TV shows, especially The Waltons and Lawrence Welk, and listening to the Oak Ridge Boys. Jim was a long time member of the Warren Jaycees and enjoyed travel around the United States.

Jim left his mark on everyone that was blessed to have known him and he will be remembered for his wonderful mischievous smile and a laugh that was truly one of a kind.

Left to mourn his passing are his siblings, Neil (Claire Ann) Liedberg of Thief River Falls, MN, Gay (Wayne) Galles of Moorhead, MN, Paul (Maryanne Dickey) Liedberg of Dillingham, AK, and Dean (Heidi Louks) Liedberg of Salem, MA; nieces and nephews, Nathan (Fran) Liedberg, Sheri Lallier, Jill Galles (Paul Peterson), Karen Galles and Aaron Galles (Jen Troy); five great-nieces and nephews; many cousins; and housemates Darin, Jack and Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Alpha.


Memorials may be designated to Marshall County Group Homes and The Occupational Development Center (ODC).

FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at First Lutheran Church and one hour before services on Friday.
INTERMENT: Next to his parents, Norman and Alpha, in Alma Lutheran Cemetery in rural Argyle, MN.
