Janice Ann (Smith) Lenhart

January 30, 1940 ~ June 1, 2020 (age 80)

Janice Lenhart, 80, of Warren, died on Monday, June 1, 2020, in Altru Hopsital, Grand Forks, ND.

Janice Ann Smith was born on January 30, 1940 in Grafton, ND to William O. and Evelyn (Uggerud) Smith. She was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1958. She briefly attended UND and finished at Aakers Business College. Soon after, Janice was united in marriage to Clifford Lenhart on March 18, 1961. They made their home on a farm north of Warren, where Janice would live the rest of her adult life. She was proud of achieving her goal of living there until (and after) 2017: the year in which it became listed as a Century Farm.

She and Clifford raised a daughter, Deborah, and as a true farm-wife, Janice worked alongside her husband in addition to keeping the house. She was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, and was Marshall County Fair Superintendent for a number of years. Janice enjoyed working with ceramics and especially liked gardening both at home and with projects through the local Garden Club.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Deb (Barry) Beck; granddaughters, Taylor and Jordan; and two brothers, Duane and Glenn Smith.

She was preceded in death her husband, Clifford, in 1997; her parents; and siblings, Marilyn Mortrud and William E. Smith.
