Jerry Asher Knute, 70, passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the presence of his loving family and friends, on November 22, 2025.
Jerry was born on November 28, 1954 to Jerry John (Jack) Knute and Denora (Natwick) Knute. He grew up on a farm near Tabor, Minnesota. He attended the Sunnyview Country School and Alvarado High School. Jerry graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1975. He was employed by the North Valley Health Center in Warren, Minnesota for 43 years. He had over 100,000 patient visits in his career. Jerry had 85 PT students shadow him over the years. He would greet his 5am early-bird patients with a warm smile and a welcoming voice, even though he would be putting them through a lot of pain!
Jerry worked on the sidelines at the Warren, and now the Warren-Alvarado-Oslo football games for 30 years. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Tabor.
Jerry was married on July 1, 1991, to the love of his life, Dorene Davis. They made their home on the family farm near Tabor, Minnesota, where they were best friends with the, “Tabor Crew!” They recently moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2019, to be near their children and grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife Dorene; his sons John and Seth Knute and Matt (Kim) Henderson, and daughter Stacey (Ryan) Knox; sisters Jacki (Jay) Omland, Kristina (Chuck) Long, and Roberta (Alan) Votava; grandchildren, Olivia and Aidan Knox and Kayley Henderson, as well as many nieces, nephews and there families. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Laurie Gibb.
Jerry’s infectious laugh and thunderous sneezing could be heard into the next county! He had the ability to make everyone feel important and to love unconditionally. His greatest healing ability was pure “bullshit.”
OPEN HOUSE IN MEMORY OF JERRY: Will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Bohemian Hall (Next to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church) in Tabor, MN.
