Jimmy Pearson Obituary

Jimmy Ardel Pearson, 84, of Warren, died on Tuesday morning, October 26, 2021, in Sanford Thief River Falls Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Jimmy A. Pearson was born on July 8, 1937, in Lynd, MN, the son of John William and Minnie (Framke) Pearson. As an infant, Jim moved with his family to rural Angus, MN, living on the farm he would later operate. He attended 4-Corner Country School through Grade 8, then attended the Northwest School of Agriculture (the “AC”) in Crookston, MN. He enlisted in the US Army Reserves and worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. In the following years, Jim would work on the line at Hormel meats. Then as a furniture upholsterer, a maintenance technician for the City of Bloomington, as well as framing houses. Before settling back on the farm, he drove fuel truck in Humbolt, MN.

On June 26, 1965, Jim was united in marriage to Helen Karen Hylland. He and Karen began their lives together in the city but in 1967 he felt called to move back to his family farm. At this time, Randy was a toddler, and later Angie would complete the family. He carried on the tradition of raising small grains and tending dairy cows for the next 52 years. Jim was a lifelong worshiper at Melo Lutheran Church, a longtime member of the Warren American Legion, and he was Helgeland Township Clerk and local barber for twenty plus years. In what spare time he could muster, Jim enjoyed fishing, carpentry, playing cards, telling jokes, “good” music, and the joys of dancing.

In later years, when his memory began to diminish, Jim was lovingly tended by his wife of 56 years. He spent those remaining years in remarkably good spirits and never met a person with whom he couldn't share a smile and offer a solid handshake.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Randy (Cathy) Pearson and Angie Otto; three grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Gram, Sydney Otto, and Dawson Otto; and two great-grandsons, Cullen and Nicklas Gram. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Viola (Darrel) Hamrick; and brother, John (Alpha) Pearson.
