JoAnn Kazmierczak, 86, of Stephen, MN, died on Wednesday morning, August 7, 2024, in LifeCare Greenbush Manor, Greenbush, MN.
JoAnn Frances was born on May 11, 1938, in Argyle, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Jankowski) Lubarski. She was raised in Argyle and graduated from its high school in 1956. On September 7, 1960 was united in marriage to Henry Kazmierczak in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle, making their home near Warren and later in Stephen, MN.
Staying home and raising her four children, JoAnn enjoyed canning, baking, and painting on pillow cases. An excellent cook, JoAnn always made abundant food for family potlucks. Her grandkids will remember her cookies and bars, with banana bread being a special treat. Christmastime was filled with traditions and activities, with JoAnn leading the games: playing Bingo and doing puzzles were her favorite. She liked her game shows on TV and enjoyed bird-watching even more: hummingbirds were especially fascinating. She worked for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls as a welder, for local farmers during potato harvest, and finally worked hard on the family dairy farm near Florian.
JoAnn had a special sense of humor and was never afraid to “tell it how it is.” She also had a deep faith, serving with the Ladies Aide at Assumption for decades and joining St. Edward Catholic Church in Karlstad in 2020. After moving into LifeCare in 2021, she appreciated being near her family, attending Mass, and visiting with her priest.
She will be missed but our memories of her will be treasured.
She is survived by her daughters, Patty (Terry) Przybylski, Sue (Allen) Converse, and Fran (Nathan) Liedberg; six grandchildren, Mitchell Przybylski (Dawn), Jeremy (Danika) Przybylski, and Bobbie Jo (fiance, Josh) Przybylski, Hunter Kazmierczak (and his mother, Tamara), Hailey (Josh) Zachman, and Nolan Liedberg (Lea); five great-grandchildren, Chloe, McKenna, Ella, Arianna, and Xander; brother, John Lubarski, and his children, Denise (Greg) Bruggenthies and Bob (Tanya) Lubarski; many other family members; special friend, April (Tom) Kasprowicz; and her many friends and staff at LifeCare.
In addition to her husband, Henry, who died on June 3, 1999, JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Mike (d. April 18, 2022); her parents, Frank and Frances Lubarski; and sister-in-law, Veronica Lubarski.
