Jon O'Keefe, 31, of Warren, MN, died unexpectedly at his workplace in Thief River Falls, MN, on Friday, August 9, 2024.
Born on June 1, 1993, his parents, Jeff & Lisa (Soltvedt) O'Keefe, welcomed “Jonny” into their home as a little brother. He grew up as the “shadow” of Thomas, always tagging along, but came into his own as a very outgoing kid who loved to joke around. Jon enjoyed skateboarding with his friends and roaming about town, graduating from Warren High School with the class of 2012. Never enjoying school too much, Jon did this and that for the next few years before landing his favorite job as a “nanny” to his young nephews. He loved spending time with his boys. He matured a lot in taking care of them and was somehow as childlike as ever, just as good at playing as he was at being responsible. Six months ago he earned a position at A&W / Cenex in Thief River Falls and truly enjoyed harnessing his ADHD, and using it to keep on top of many tasks at once, cook in the kitchen and assist at the deli. Jon was grateful for his family, his friends (especially Zack Feltman), and for his boss and coworkers.
In the process of bettering himself in all areas of his life these last months, Jon could be seen around town while totally at-peace with the world, out on long walks with his beloved dog, Sadie Mae. We have great hope that in his sudden passing he is being held in the arms of God, at-peace even still.
Jon is survived by his parents, Jeff and Lisa O'Keefe; big brother, Thomas O'Keefe; his nephews, Dawson, Travis, Theodore, and Corey (and their mother, Laci); many aunts, uncles, and cousins; grandparents, Richard Tatro and Marilyn (Leonard) Novak; and his dog, Sadie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Veronica O'Keefe, Milton Soltvedt, and Ina Mae Tatro.
