Jonathan Lawrence "Jon" Labine, 51, of Argyle, MN, passed away tragically by his own hand on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Born on December 4, 1972, to Lawrence and Mary Labine, Jon was a spirited soul from the start. His penchant for adventure and competitiveness marked his childhood, whether it was his infamous lawn mower ramp jumps or his fervor for sports. Jon attended St. Rose School and graduated from Argyle High School in 1991 before pursuing his passion for football at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Later, he found his true Alma Mater at UND, where he held season tickets for both football and hockey.
Jon was a man that "loved BIG" especially when it came to his three children, Sarah, Jordan, and Alexis. While not particularly fond of academia, Jon's heart lay in the Ag Industry, where he found fulfillment in various roles throughout his life. He was also a dedicated basketball referee for three decades, leaving his mark both in Detroit Lakes and his hometown of Argyle.
Returning to Argyle in 2012, Jon immersed himself in community life, embracing his role in the local Lions Club and volunteering wherever he could. His exuberance for life was palpable, whether he was speeding on a snowmobile, hunting for the perfect buck, or engrossed in a game.
Jon's sudden departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Sarah (fiancé, Garrett Wickett), Skylar [Jordan], and Alexis; his mother, Mary; his partner, Bethany Westman, and her daughters Chloe, Isabelle and Sophia; his siblings, Michael (Brenda), Andrea (Curtis), and Allison (Andy); and several nieces and nephews.
In his passing, Jon is reunited with his father, Lawrence, and his sister, Michelle. May his troubled soul find solace, and may he rest in eternal peace, cradled in the mercy of a loving God.
Please pray for his soul and for the souls of all who struggle like he did.
