JOYCE'S FUNERAL HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER.

Joyce Haugen, 91, of Bigwoods Township, Marshall County, MN, passed away on Friday evening, December 20, 2019 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Joyce Lyla Monson was born on May 21, 1928 in Bigwoods Township, the daughter of Joseph and Hilda (Aasand) Monson. As a child, she moved with her family to Foldahl Township, Marshall County, MN where she attended country school and graduated from Argyle High School. Joyce attended North Star College in Warren, MN where she got her normal training. She taught for eight years at country school in Marshall County. On June 30, 1956, she was united in marriage to Joseph Haugen. They made their home in Bigwoods Township where they farmed. Joe died on March 16, 2001.

She was a very active member of Bigwoods Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. Joyce enjoyed being involved with and updated on the current events and conditions of the family farm.

Joyce loved being with her grandchildren and attending their events. She was especially proud of her great-granddaughter, Nora. Joyce would always be smiling when she was around. She enjoyed cooking, baking, seasonal decorating, fishing with family and making great doughnuts. Joyce flourished while having coffee with family and friends and would always make sure that everyone had plenty to eat.

Left to mourn her passing are a daughter, Deborah Joyce Haugen of St. Paul, MN; daughter-in-law, Linda Haugen of Argyle, MN; grandchildren, David (Kristie) Hunt of Grand Forks, ND, Daniel of Argyle, MN, Leanna of East Grand Forks, MN and Deborah and Matthew Haugen both of Argyle, MN; great-granddaughter, Nora Hunt; sister, Helen Aas of Orlando, FL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; son, David; brothers, Lyman, Norton, Maxwell and James and two sisters, Mildred Nordblom and Jean Lindblad.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: Bigwoods Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oslo, MN
