Kevin Olsen

Kevin Olsen, 54, of Holt, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his mother's home in Viking, MN.

Kevin Michael Olsen was born on October 12, 1968 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Robert and Darlene (Schroeder) Olsen. He moved with his family in the spring of 1969 to rural Viking. Kevin graduated from Marshall County Central in 1987 and he attended Moorhead State University majoring in music with an emphasis on the Trombone. After college, Kevin made his home in rural Viking and he worked at Digi-Key, Halls Floral and Kezar Music. In 2013, he moved to Holt.

His passion in life was music - writing and performing. Kevin learned how to play eight instruments. He played in many bands including the Hoot N Toots, Cathy Erickson Band, Full Reign, Alien Grey, Sugar Creek Band, Penny and the Kruisers and Blue Rose. Kevin also liked to garden.

Left to mourn his passing are his mother, Darlene Olsen of Viking, MN; siblings, Beverly Melnychuk of Strathcona, MN, Wanda Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN, Anita Milford of Thief River Falls, MN and Vernon Olsen of Drayton, ND and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Olsen and sister, Barbara Olsen.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE:  2:00 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Warren, MN.  He will be buried next to his father, Robert and sister, Barbara. Everyone is welcome to join the family for coffee and bars following the service at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
