Larry "Shakey" Landreville Obituary

Larry “Shakey” Landreville, 85, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at North Star Manor with his family by his side.

Larry Henry Landreville was born on March 23, 1940, the son of George and Cecelia (Kostrzewski) Landreville. He was one of three children raised in Argyle, MN, where the values he learned as a child of hard work and attention to detail shaped his life.

On July 25, 1959, he married Donna Olson. Together, they built a home and life in Argyle, where Larry worked for Witcher Construction and later for Cal Sorenson Construction. In 1986, the family moved to Warren, where Larry began working for the City of Warren and became well-known for his skill and precision as a backhoe operator. He retired in 2006 but always found something to fix or tinker with. In later years, Larry lived in Thief River Falls before returning to Warren.

Everywhere that Larry worked, he was loved. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in being able to fix almost anything. Larry had a great memory which came in useful if someone had been in his meticulously kept shop — He always knew if something had been used or moved!

Although he did not have a formal education, Larry was self-taught and could figure most things out. One of his proudest accomplishments was digging a 1927 Ford Model T out of the mud and lovingly restoring it over 25 years. He proudly drove it in the Argyle Bicentennial Parade in 1976. Above all, he adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grateful to have shared his life are his children, David Landreville of Valley City, ND and Diane (Neil) Johnson of Warren, MN; grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson, Jake Landreville, Amanda (Clayton) Kraby and Emily (Ryan) Fisher; great-grandchildren, Everett Kraby, Hannah Kraby, Hunter Landreville, Alec Anderson, Adalynn Fisher, Lee Landreville, Elling Kraby, Wyatt Fisher and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Gertrude Gajeski and Leo Landreville; his wife of fifty years, Donna; his son, Lawrence; and grandchildren, Jared, Jonathan and Jessica.
