Lawrence Kuznia, 88, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at North Valley Health Center in Warren, MN.
Lawrence Thomas was born on May 6, 1935 in Argyle, MN, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Gruhot) Kuznia. He was raised in Stephen and he was very proud of graduating from the Northwest School of Agriculture in 1954. On October 3, 1959, he was united in marriage to Barbara Buchner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Warren, MN. They made their home in Stephen where he was a part owner of Kuznia Farms. Lawrence served in the US Army from 1958 – 1960. For a period of about 15 years, Lawrence lived in Burnsville, MN and worked at the Burnsville Mall where he learned to enjoy working a short 8 hour work day. In his later years, you would often see Lawrence driving his Ranger or Gator around Stephen checking things out.
He was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Stephen American Legion Post 390.
Lawrence was not a man one would forget after meeting him. He had a nickname for almost everything. Lawrence loved Black Crows, black licorice, jellybeans, peanut brittle and pretty much anything sweet. He was not a quiet fella and was known to poke you with his finger when he wanted to get a point across. He will be missed by all those that loved him.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 63 years, Barbara; children, David (Cindy) Kuznia of Stephen, MN, Carolyn “Tutti” (Danny) Omdahl of Warren, MN, Kevin (Becky) Kuznia of Fargo, ND and Kathy (Todd) Bazey of Stephen, MN; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Storeby and Delores Kuznia and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son, Kent; grandson Aaron Bazey; parents, Thomas and Elizabeth; sister, Rose Ann Gryskiewicz and brothers, Paul and Andrew.
