Lawrence Labine Obituary

Lawrence Labine, 83, of rural Argyle, MN, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lawrence Leo Labine was born on January 7, 1937 in Bell, CA, the son of Leo and Rita (Ethier) Labine. He moved with his family to Argyle at a young age. Lawrence attended St. Rose Elementary School and the Northwest School of Agriculture before graduating from Argyle High School in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1955 – 1956 and he was stationed in California. On November 23, 1957, Lawrence was united in marriage to Mary Gothenberg. They made their home in rural Argyle where they farmed. After he retired from farming, he worked as a crop adjuster for the Phil Thompson Agency. Lawrence and Mary wintered in Arizona the last several years.

He was a 45 year board member of Marshall & Polk Rural Water System and he served as President from 1973-1977. Lawrence also served on many boards in the Argyle community.

Lawrence loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities, following the Minnesota sports teams, gardening and owning and raising thoroughbreds.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of almost 63 years, Mary; four children, Michael (Brenda) Labine of Detroit Lakes, MN, Andrea (Curtis) Erickson of Springfield, MN, Allison Neuschwander (Andy Kirkeby) of Argyle, MN and Jon Labine (Bethany Westman) of Argyle, MN; seventeen grandchildren, Nicole, Brett, Kellen, Dani, Steven, Brady, Christian, Carter, Lauren, Wyatt, Collin, Sarah, Jordan, Chloe, Isabelle, Sophie and Alexis; ten great-grandchildren, Will, Jack, Max, Regan, Hudson, Carson, Parker, Adelei and Beckett; siblings, Noella (Steve) Shea of Eden Prairie, MN, Elizabeth (Henry) Nino of Silverton, OR and Paul (Shari) Labine of Grand Forks, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rita Labine; daughter, Michelle Albrecht and great-grandson, Caden Zikmund.

MASS OF CHRISITAN BURIAL: Due to restrictions on the number of people who are allowed to attend church, private family services will take place at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Argyle, MN

INTERMENT: St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Argyle, MN

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials preferred to the Stephen Argyle Central Scholarship Fund in Lawrence's name.
