Marilyn Chruszch Obituary

Marilyn Chruszch, 89, of Warren, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday morning, June 25, 2026, at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, with her family by her side.

Marilyn Ruth Gulseth was born on August 20, 1936, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Herbert and Myrtle (Mostrom) Gulseth. She was raised in Thief River Falls, where she was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and graduated from high school in 1954. On March 1, 1958, Marilyn married Albert "Sonny" Chruszch at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Together they built a life on their farm in Brandt Township, Polk County, where they created many cherished memories. Sonny preceded her in death on April 3, 2015.

A faithful member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Marilyn found joy in serving others. She was active in the Lydia Phoebe Circle, enjoyed quilting with the church quilting group, and volunteered for many years with the ODC Bible Study.

She loved tending her garden, spending time fishing, and expressing her creativity through sewing. More than anything, she treasured the time spent with her family, whose love was the greatest blessing of her life.

Over the last couple of years, the staff, support team members and residents at North Star Manor have become like family to Marilyn. The family would also like to thank Hollie and Mike Cheney and Brad Owens and his family for their help and friendship over the years.

She will be remembered for her generosity, quick, witty sense of humor and caring heart. Her love of baking, gardening, canning, and quilting live on in her daughter and grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Olson of Cambridge, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Lucas Olson and Kaia (Clint) Carlson; her great-grandchildren, Quinton and Piper Olson and Alexa and Maika Carlson; sisters-in-law, Alice Swanson and Julie Fillipi; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews; godchildren, Kathy Williams, Shawn Fillipi, and Mark Swanson and special friend, Elva Bustrack.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny; her daughter, Tracy Lynn; her sisters, Dolores Stone and Rose Love; and her brother, Floyd Gulseth.
