Marlene Dau, 83, of Warren, MN, died on January 17, 2020, under care of hospice at Copper Health of Oro Valley, AZ.
Marlene Yvonne Torkelson was born on August 24, 1936, to EA and Sylvia (Hinman) Torkelson, in Wadena, MN. The family moved several times when Marlene was young, living in Wadena, Wilmar, Roseau, and Thief River Falls, MN. She graduated from Thief River Falls High School and worked as a bookkeeper for City Dairy. On June 11, 1966, Marlene was united in marriage to Clarence Dau. Following the wedding, the couple made their home in Warren, where they raised their two children.
Marlene was active in the community, and was especially involved with the Evangelical Covenant Church in town, as well as the local Homemaker's Club. She will be best remembered for her long service as a bank teller. From 1966 to 2001, Marlene worked for Bremer Bank (and its predecessors). As her health declined in later years, Marlene moved to North Star Assisted Living; just recently she and Clarence went to Arizona to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and GRANDCHILDREN. The love for her grandchildren was especially evident.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clarence; children, Kevin (Leanna) Dau and Janelle (Jay) Hvidsten; grandchildren, Jack, Hannah, Rebekah, Julia, and Levi Hvidsten; her brother Allen (Sue) Torkelson; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and sisters Charlotte Fox, Opel Stroust, Pearl Moorhead, and brothers Forrest Torkelson, Kenneth Torkelson, and Earl Torkelson.
No gifts please. Know that your love, support and kindness is greatly appreciated.
