Marlene Tureson, 87, of Warren, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at North Star Manor with family by her side,
Marlene Wesolowski was born on May 31, 1938, in Grafton, ND, the oldest of four children, to Isadore and Lucille (Grembowski) Wesolowski. The family lived west of Stephen, MN, for several years, and in 1949, bought a farm east of Warren. She graduated from Warren High School in 1957 and then became a telephone switchboard operator in Crookston, MN. A sleepless gentleman from Hallock, MN, would call late in the night while she worked and, finally, drove to Crookston to take her to breakfast. On October 29, 1960, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Tureson in the old Crookston Cathedral, with their wedding dance being held in a quonset on her parent’s farm- which still stands today. Bob was sent to Korea with the Army and upon his return in 1962, the two made their home in East Grand Forks, MN. Their daughter, Maurita, was born years later, and the family moved to Warren in 1973, eventually building a house east of Warren. Marlene held a few different cleaning jobs and worked in the kitchen at Warren High School for many years. As a Lunch Lady, Marlene served home-cooked meals, made connections with many students, and kept a motherly eye on her daughter.
There were two driving forces in Marlene's life: her faith and her attention to hosting. On special occasions and family gatherings, she would make a Wesolowski favorite, Mountain Cake. Often, when guests arrived at her home, Marlene would have the coffee pot going, four different home-baked goods at the ready, and almost never sat still. As the family tells it, “She could make leisure into work!” That said, she had deep care for anyone who came into her hospitality and was a generous servant. Her faith spoke to her actions, as she loved and waited upon her Lord, hearing Mass as the generations before her did. Marlene had a deep devotion to the Rosary, Our Lady, and prayed for her loved ones daily.
She is survived by Maurita (Jerry) Christensen; a grandson and favorite man in her life (behind Jesus), Kenton Christensen; siblings, Audrey (Harold) Slager, Sharon Valley, and Adrian (Mary) Wesolowski; and many extended Wesolowski and Tureson relatives whom she held dear.
Gone before her are her husband, Robert, who died on October 12, 2005; her parents; and brother-in-law, Eugene Valley.
Requiescat in Pace.
