MaryAnn (Lawson) Chwialkowski

MaryAnn Chwialkowski, 78, of Stephen, left this life on Sunday morning, November 8, 2020, in her home, with her children at her side.

MaryAnn was born on September 16, 1942, in Thief River Falls, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High School, the class of 1960, and then earned a degree in cosmetology. She worked as a beautician and owned a beauty shop with her sister, Lucy. In 1966, MaryAnn was married to Ralph Chwialkowski and they raised six children in Stephen. Over the years, MaryAnn provided daycare for many, cleaned homes, and worked as a custodian and laundress at the local school. Throughout her years of service, she was a mentor to some, a friend to all and has touched many lives.

In addition to her involvement in St. Stephen Catholic Church, the Athena Club and the CYO, MaryAnn was a Girl Scout leader and the Cookie Chairwoman. She cherished spending time with her children and enjoyed quilting, playing cards, board games and watching game shows, especially “Jeopardy”. MaryAnn was an avid Minnesota Wild fan, collected angels, and loved to fly kites. MaryAnn had many gifts to share. She loved being around people, especially children. She enjoyed cooking and never failed to have an abundance of food for all. MaryAnn was known for putting others' needs above her own and welcomed all into her home. Her heart and door were always open.

MaryAnn is survived by her children, Terri (Jason) Solberg of Glyndon, MN, Todd Chwialkowski of Stephen, MN, Trudi Chwialkowski of Denver, CO, Traci Chwialkowski of Stephen, MN, Trent Chwialkowski of Cantwell, AK, and Trisha Chwialkowski of Moorhead, MN; granddaughter, Lexie; sisters, Lucy Knoll, Cathie Allen, and Judi (Lynn) Egenes; sister-in-law, Linda Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tami; her parents; and siblings, Robert Lawson and Alyce (Doug) Bergdahl; and brothers-in-law, Herman Knoll and Bill Allen.

PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 12:30 PM, in St. Stephen Cemetery, Stephen, MN.
