Philip Gerszewski, 70, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Drayton, ND, died on December 10, 2025.
Philip was born on August 26, 1955, the second-oldest of 15 children born to Joseph and Margaret (Szczepanski) Gerszewski. He was raised in Stephen, MN, graduating from the local high school in 1973. He was always working on something and became interested in engines at a young age. Being mostly self-taught and honing his trade in employee classes, Phil was a top tier diesel mechanic. And for as deep as he'd get in an engine, he HATED getting dirty and somehow always remained pretty clean for a guy who worked with grease! He lived and worked in Drayton for decades and worked on-call for many years, being the one you wanted to call when a truck broke down. He was also a good teacher, whether you were a seasoned wrencher or a just a kid interested in how things worked. In the early 2000s, Phil moved to Fargo where he could work and enjoy a few more creature comforts. He had a dozen employers over the years including Urbaniak Implement, Allis-Chalmers, EW Wylie Trucking, Transsystems LLC, and Helm Enterprises, Lewis Hired Trucks, and Nelson International Trucks.
When he wasn't working, Phil enjoyed talking on the phone (about life... and engines, of course), playing pinochle, and BS'ing with the many friends he made along the way.
He is survived by his siblings, Leo of Forest River, ND, Vincent of Stephen, MN, John (Nancy) of Warren, MN, Elizabeth (Duane) Mattson of Grand Forks, ND, Dorothy (Tom) Sevigny of Grand Forks, ND, David of Warren, MN, Richard of Warroad, MN, Eugene (Rachelle) of Joplin, MO, Daniel (Mindy) of Stephen, MN, Phyllis (Ray) Gajeski of Grand Forks, ND, James of Emerado, ND, Stanley (Melissa) of Marshfield, WI, Jerry (Jill) of Gardner, ND, and Jennifer of Warren, MN; many nieces and nephews; and a whole slew of their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
