Richard "Dick" Hanson

Richard “Dick” Hanson, 84, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at North Star Manor in Warren, MN.

Richard Dale was born on July 23, 1939 in Warren, the son of Andrew and Madeline (Wosick) Hanson. He was raised in Stephen where he was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Dick was part of the closeknit class of 1957. On July 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Kroke. Dick was a lifelong farmer who also raised cattle. He worked for Rasmussen Plumbing, Roy Benson & Son and Witcher Construction as a crane operator. Over the years, Dick helped to build Grand Forks Hospital, Columbia Mall and the Grand Forks Police Station. In retirement, Dick's hobby was to drive in his old red pickup checking crops and visiting with cattle farmers.

Dick was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church where he served on the Church Council. He was also a longtime board member of Tamarack Township.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his loving children, Jason (Heidi) Hanson of Stephen, Jody (Jeff) Covello of The Villages, FL, Jan Osowski (Mike) of Grand Forks, ND, Jon (Kari) Hanson of Stephen, MN, Richard Hanson Jr. of Golden Vallley, MN, and Jared (Christy) Hanson of Neche, ND; seventeen grandchildren, Caleb (Brie) Banks, Megan (Blaize) Kandler, Shane Banks, Andrew Hanson, Nicholas Covello, Christopher (Natasha) Osowski, Ryan Osowski, Lisa Osowski, Lakein (Kristy) Hanson, Brooklyn Hanson, Bailey Hanson, Sandler Hanson, Jake Hanson, Jordal (Mason) Berg, Jasmine Hanson, Hayes and Huck Hanson; eight great-grandchildren, Wrenley, Maddie, Liam, Landon, Laura, Brooks, Jeremy, and Barrett; brother, Walter Hanson of Emily, MN; sister-in-law, Marlene Hanson of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Richard Seinfeld of Malibu, CA; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Madeline; in-laws, Elmer and Hildur Kroke; brother, Lew Hanson; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Kroke) Seinfeld and Pat Hanson; and brother-in-law, John Kroke.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stephen, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services at the church.

INTERMENT: St. Stephen Cemetery, Stephen, MN

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials preferred to St. Stephen Catholic Church or Stephen Volunteer Ambulance
