Rose Peterson Obituary

Rose Peterson, 60, of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Rose Marie Peterson, daughter of Janet and Elmer Sabol, was the second of five children born on March 28, 1960, and grew up west of Warren, Minnesota on her parent’s farm. She completed High school in Warren then pursued Medical Assistant training at East Grand Forks Technical College, then proceeded to work for East Grand Forks Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Rose married her high school sweetheart, Ken Peterson at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Warren, MN, July 11, 1981. She then spent time as a student taking general studies at the University of North Dakota. A move to the Twin Cities in 1986 had Rose put plans on hold at UND and was employed at Cardiovascular Consultants as a Medical Assistant. She then pursued studies toward her Registered Nurse license at North Hennepin Technical College. She was assigned to the cardiac floor at North Memorial Medical Center (now North Memorial Health) for 10 years. Rose took special interest in cardiology as she was aware of her family history of heart disease and took pride in her work as a nurse and charge nurse at North Memorial. Rose was eager to enhance care in cardiology and began an interest and passion for clinical research. She also enhanced her nursing skills through collaboration with attorneys creating a private legal nurse consulting business as well as obtaining her B.A. in Organizational Business at Bethel University. Rose continued to pursue her passion for clinical research through employment at Medtronic, St. Jude Medical, and the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. One of her greatest accomplishments within her efforts within clinical research was sharing publishing within the New England Journal of Medicine. Her topic of research published was within hypertension and renal denervation. Rose was able to experience clinical research throughout the country as well as internationally with frequent trips to Europe to have heart devices approved and implemented into enhancing cardiac care and ultimately enhancing quality of life for so many. She felt honored to be selected to present research to the FDA on a few of these devices. At the time of her passing she had been working diligently in research towards a COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition to her passion for her career she loved spending time with her family organizing gatherings especially over holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries. She also loved spending time with her immediate family at their lake home in Laporte, MN. Rose was tremendously hard working and determined to take on any challenge, plan, and execute. This transcended into her love for projects within the home and through gardening which was a passion of hers from her upbringing on her family’s farmstead.

Rose is survived by her husband Ken Peterson, son Ryan, daughter Karissa, and grandson Landon.

Siblings Cindy (Ralph) Melgard, Larry (Deb) Sabol, Charles Sabol and Bill (Heide) Sabol. Relatives, Kevin Peterson, Craig (Tammy) Peterson, mother-in-law Marjorie Wages and step father-in-law Ward Wages. Rose is survived by seven nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.
