Rosella Pietruszewski, 77, of Argyle, MN, passed away on Sunday morning, December 19, 2021 at Edgewood Vista in East Grand Forks, MN with her family by her side.
Rosella Alice Asselin was born on March 6, 1944 in rural Argyle, the daughter of Homer and Clarice (Deschene) Asselin. She was raised in Oklee, MN where she graduated from Oklee High School in 1964. On June 25, 1966, Rosella married Eugene Pietruszewski in Oklee. They made their home in rural Argyle. She cleaned at St. Rose Catholic School and for several families over the years. Eugene died on October 28, 1996. Rosella continued to live on the farm until moving to North Star Manor in Warren, MN in 2020.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, National Catholic Society of Foresters, Catholic Daughters, Birthday Club, Red Hat Ladies and Argyle American Legion Auxiliary where she was a flag bearer for over 40 years.
Rosella enjoyed reading, playing cards and walking. She always had a hearty wave for you if you saw her while she was out walking. When she lived on the farm, her daily walk consisted of walking around the section (4 miles) in an hour while praying. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and she loved spending time with her family. After her husband, Eugene, passed away in 1996, Rosella had to become an even stronger, independent woman. She began to enjoy some winters in Arizona first with friends and then with Ted Yutrzenka. There she spent time with friends, played bocce ball regularly, walked a lot, gambled with the limited amount she would allow herself and just enjoyed being out of the MN winters.
Left to mourn her passing are three children, Chad (Jeannette) Pietruszewski of Argyle, MN, Tonya (Eric) Omdahl of Morris, MN and Tory Sjokvist of Mayville, ND; twenty-one grandchildren, Amber (Mickey Storey) Pietruszewski, Robert Pietruszewski, Kimberly (Shaun Johnson) Wayne, Jean Pietruszewski, Billie Pietruszewski, Justin Pietruszewski, Ernest (Gabriela) Trueblood, Anthony Trueblood, Aidan Trueblood, Payton Stuart, Daniel (Kali) Tiernan, John (Tori) Tiernan, Elizabeth (Aaron Nell) Tiernan, Christopher Tiernan, Victoria Tiernan, Thomas Tiernan, Benjamin Tiernan, Annika Magnusson, Cami Magnusson, L'Andra Sjokvist and Cordel Sjokvist; four great-grandchildren, Bridgette, Becca and Bryce Wayne and David Tiernan; siblings, Stella Howard, Phyllis Sulerud, Bernadette Hagl and Duane Asselin and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Clarice; husband, Eugene; special friend, Ted Yutrzenka and siblings, Rolland Asselin, Bernard Asselin and Cecelia Finseth.
