Russell Demeyere Obituary

Russell Demeyere, was born July 9, 1936 in Marshall County, MN to Albert and Martha (Schiewe). He grew up in rural Warren, MN. He married Clarice Troska on March 21, 1959 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Stephen, MN. In June of 1959, he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. Russell and Clarice had one daughter, Joni.

Following his military service, Russell and Clarice moved to rural Warren where he farmed. He also worked for Gowan Construction for a number of years. In 2001 they moved to Cando, ND where he planted trees for the Towner County Soil Conservation for a few years and helped his son-in-law, Lyle on his farm. In 2013, they returned to Warren.

Russell was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Warren and a member of the American Legion of Warren. Russell was proud of his 40 years of service on the Warrenton Township Board.

Russell enjoyed fishing and hunting and going to casinos. He was a perfectionist in many aspects and was quite particular about his farmyard, receiving the Marshall County Beautiful Farmstead Award. Russell and Clarice both enjoyed volunteering in Medora, ND, making the trip out there for several summers.

Russell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clarice, Warren; daughter Joni (Lyle) Morlock, Egeland, ND; grandchildren Michael (Allie) Gowan, Manvel, ND and Megan Gowan, Wheaton, IL. Great grandchildren Ivy, Sienna and Grady Gowan. He is also survived by siblings Edna Huesman, Stanley (Lois) Demeyere, Arthur (Bonnie) Demeyere, Rosie (Clyde) Rosten, Margie (Larry) Ulrich, Caroline Bohach and Susan Carlson, sister-in-law Rosemary Demeyere; Clarice’s siblings Fredryce Sundby, John (Marcia) Troska, and Carl (Connie) Troska; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Robert, Raymond, Henry, Leonard, Frieda, Ida, Violet; nephews Paul Anderson, Mark Olson and Scott Troska.

Honorary Bearers for Russell are his Godchildren; Marla Vasek, Ann Woinarowicz, Josie Hartman, Jeff Demeyere and the memory of Scott Troska.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Storm Community Heroes – Scott Troska Memorial Scholarship (donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 356  Stephen, MN 56757)  are requested.

SERVICE: 10:30 AM on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Warren, MN.
VISITATION: After 5:30 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Sunday at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren, MN and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

INTERMENT: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Vega Township, Marshall County, MN.
