Sandra Rud

Sandra Rud, 76, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 under the care of hospice at her son's home in Grand Forks, ND.

Sandra Rose Douglas was born on April 6, 1947 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Marcel and Margaret (Verbout) Douglas.  She was a life long resident of Stephen where she graduated from Stephen High School in 1965.  Sandra was united in marriage to Dwaine Rud on September 18, 1965 at First Lutheran Church in Stephen.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Far North, ASCS office and Rivard's Quality Seeds over the years.  

She was a life long member of First Lutheran Church where she was treasurer of church circle and quilted with the First Lutheran Church Quilters.  She made many quilts and sewed clothes for herself and her children.  You could even find her sewing outside on a nice day.

Sandra was a devoted grandma to Jackson and Sydney and loved attending their baseball games, band concerts, and dance events.  She had a love for shopping, walking, and traveling anywhere from Alaska to Florida.  Sandra was known for her butterscotch pie and caramel rolls.  She enjoyed camping at Norway Beach on Cass Lake and had camping down to a science.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 57 years, Dwaine; children, Brian (Shannon) Rud of Grand Forks, ND and Connie (David) Espinoza of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Jackson and Sydney; siblings, Gary (Jean) Douglas of New Richmond, WI, Karen Douglas of Maplewood, MN; Mike (Cheri) Douglas of Stephen, MN and Jon Douglas of Anchorage, AK and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcel and Margaret Douglas; son, David Rud and parents-in-law, Walter and Loretta Rud.

Sandra's family would like to thank the Hospice of the Red River Valley for the excellent care that she received while under their care.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at First Lutheran Church in Stephen, MN.
VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Friday at First Lutheran Church in Stephen and one hour before services on Saturday.
INTERMENT: Stephen City Cemetery, Stephen, MN
