Steve McGregor, 63, of Warren, MN formerly of Grand Forks, ND, died on Thursday evening, July 7, 2022, in Altru Hospital.
Steve was born on October 7, 1958, in Warren, to Clifford and Ruth (Hesse) McGregor. He was raised near Radium and graduated from Warren High School in 1977. He went to NDSCS in Wahpeton and studied Diesel Mechanics, later working in the field for a few years. After cycling through a series of odd jobs and social service work, including living for a time in Washington state, Steve returned to the area and worked for S&S Transport in Grand Forks; it was a job he cherished for 25 years.
Steve lived his life on-wheels. If he wasn't driving for work, he was out riding on his motorcycle. He always joked he wasn't “rich enough for a Harley.” It may have been true, be he was rich in other ways. He was a devoted brother and friend, and people we simply drawn to him. Steve was well-liked and was often the life of the party.
In the mid 1980s Steve was diagnosed with MS. He struggled with it on and off for years but he didn't let it get him down too much. He kept up an active lifestyle until the end and leaves behind many who love him.
He is survived by his two younger brothers, Richard and Clyde McGregor both of Radium, MN; nephew, Jason (Ashley) McGregor of Newfolden, MN; niece, Arrie (Kyle) Klasen of Gatzke, MN; great-nieces-and-nephews, Adley, Trapper and Kasen McGregor, and Ireland, Kennedy, Karter and Keelan Klasen; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth, who died on January 23, 2022, and Clifford, who died on March 5, 2015.
