Ted Yutrzenka 82, proud resident of Argyle, MN, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 peacefully at home with his family at his side.
Ted John Yutrzenka was born June 14, 1937, the son of Mert and Irene (Dulinski) Yutrzenka. He attended school in Argyle and joined the US Navy in 1955 where he made a career of it and retired with 20 years of service. He discovered a love of travel and adventure traveling to many countries. While in the navy and stationed in San Diego, he met, fell in love with and married the love of his life, Janet Tholander. They raised 4 children together. After moving back to Argyle from San Diego he worked for the City of Argyle for a number of years. He was an active volunteer in his community from volunteering at church events to playing Santa for the community Christmas event. He belonged to the Argyle American Legion and served a number of rolls including Chaplain
With his growing family, Ted enjoyed camping, serving as a little league coach to his sons, and golfing. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed a trip to Germany to visit his son. Later in life he loved his winters in Apache Wells, Arizona and discovered a new passion - bocce ball. He made friends wherever he went and could talk to anybody.
Even though he experienced difficult times such as losing two young children, instead of making him bitter he opened his heart and was deeply compassionate and generous throughout his life. He had a soft spot for the “underdog” and would buy knife sets and vacuum cleaners from college kids to help them out.
Left to mourn his passing are his family; son, Daniel (Lisa), son, Duane (Mary), daughter, Sandy (John) Nentwig, son, Carl (USAF); six grandchildren, Danny Yutrzenka, Maggie Johnson (Mack), Austin Yutrzenka, Julia Nentwig, Katie Nentwig, Claire Nentwig; great-granddaughters, Zoe Johnson & Quinn Johnson; brother and best friend, Tom (Judy) Yutrzenka, brother, Ray (Chris) Yutrzenka and sister, Janice Gryskiewecz; sister-in-law, Nancy Pounders; his special friend, Rosella Pietruszewski; and many nieces and nephews.
