Wallace Knoll, 86, East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Sunday, July 9 2023 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, N.D. Wallace Joseph Knoll was born on June 29, 1937 in Warren, MN, the son of Leo and Irene (Kroll) Knoll. He spent his early years on the family farm and graduated from Stephen High School in 1955. He then joined the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge after 5 years as a machinist.
Wallace returned home to Stephen to raise his family. He worked construction in various roles (from laborer to job superintendent) for over 50 years and was proud of the projects that he and his crews built throughout the Midwest including Altru Hospital and much of the UND Campus. Wallace was a member of the Stephen American Legion, St. Stephen Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of EGF and the Carpenters Union. Upon retirement, Wally found his passions in gardening, baking, fishing and volunteering and was always willing to share his talents with anyone that was interested. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the time spent with his children, grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He will be missed by the many lives that he touched over the years.
Left to mourn his passing are his children; Dawn Knoll of Paynesville,MN, Justin Knoll of Thief River Falls, and Kathy (Kelly) Lancaster of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Austin, Brevin and Tegan Lancaster, Ashlynn (Tanner) Lyberg and Montana Knoll; great grandsons Truynn and Talon; two sisters and three brothers; Edward Knoll, Richard (Veronica) Knoll, Mavis (Julius) Helm, Harold (Janet) Knoll, and Phyllis (Donald) Pawlowski, sisters-in- law Lucy Knoll and Beverly Knoll; many nieces and nephews.
