Wallace "Wally" Lamb, 95, of Warren, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND.
Wallace Leroy was born on June 6, 1926, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Percy and Anna (Meyer) Lamb. Prior to graduating from high school, Wally enlisted in the US Navy. On August 10, 1944, he began his war service. He served his country during WWII as an Aviation Electronic Technician's Mate Third Class. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, Wally attended Northern Illinois College of Optometry, graduating in 1949. In 1950, Dr. Lamb opened a practice in Warren, MN. He operated this office, in addition to a second office in Crookston, until his retirement.
On February 3, 1958, Wallace was united in marriage to Janice Hoglo of Thief River Falls, in Omaha, NE. The two started their family in Warren and lived in the same house for 63 of their 64 years of marriage. This home was where his heart was. He kept his lawn immaculate with hours of “recreational” mowing; he embraced technology as a lifelong learner; and filled his home with children and grandchildren. He nurtured a special love for Ham radio and his call sign, WθPHD.
In addition to being a father of seven and a professional optometrist, Wally still found time to be of service to his community. He was a charter member of the Warren Lions Club, he spent many happy years on the Marshall Co. Fair Board; he was a decades-long member of the Warren American Legion, and he was devoted to his church, Sts. Peter & Paul. He was involved with Catholic faith formation with both the TEC and Quest retreats in the area.
Wally is survived by his wife, Jan, of Fargo; children, Michelle (Jeff) Norby of Detroit Lakes, MN, Shawn (Mike) Hagstrom of Fargo, Michael Lamb of Albany, MN, Nancy (Lyle) Grabowski of Little Falls, MN, Kathy (Howard) Fulks, and John (Amy) Lamb, both of Fargo; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerome and Russell, his parents, and sister, Thelma.
