Larry Carlson

Larry Carlson, 80, of Stephen, MN, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in Karlstad Senior Living Center, Karlstad, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Larry Roger Carlson was born on September 13, 1935, in Augsburg Township, Marshall County, MN, to C. Albert and Agda (Stride) Carlson. He lived near Stephen, MN, all his life, going to Salem Lutheran Church, attending Augsburg Country School, and graduating from Stephen High School. On March 2, 1957, Larry was united in marriage to June A. Poitras. They made their home on the family farm, where Larry farmed with his father. In the following years, Larry would raise certified potatoes and care for his land to increase its yield. He loved taking care of his land and was serious about farming and his faith. He enjoyed watching sports, especially when his children played, and was a fixture at Stephen-Argyle sporting events for many years.

In addition to his wife, June, with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year, Larry is survived by his children, Lynn Carlson of Grand Forks, ND, MaryLee (Mark) Carlson of Jewettte City, CT, Lance Carlson of Warren, MN, and Lon (Becky) Carlson of Fargo, ND; grandsons, Matthew, Kyle, Aaron, Andrew, Luke, and Blake Carlson; granddaughter, Tiffany Kleven; siblings, Corrine Krogh of Morris, MN, Marian Bates of Stephen, MN, Edwin (Angel) Carlson of Hallock, MN, Janice (Willard) Landreville of Milaca, MN, Allard (Debby) Carlson of Hallock, MN, Carole (Jeff) Winter of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Donna (Dick) Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Betty Carlson of Thief River Falls, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alden, Dennis, and LeRoy; infant brother, Sydney and brothers-in-law, Jim Krogh and Donald Bates.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Stephen, MN.

VISITATION: One hour before services.

INTERMENT: Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Stephen, MN.
