Bradley Olson, 47, of Alvarado, MN, passed away in his home, under care of hospice, on Friday, April 21, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer.
Brad was born July 25, 1969, in Grand Forks to Darrell and Cherryl (Hanson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Alvarado.
No one could brighten a room like Brad. His sense of humor and his ability to laugh are legendary and brought joy and lightness to even the darkest situations.
Brad had too many friends to count. He was at ease baking with his grandmother Viv, celebrating with friends at sporting events and barbeques, and traveling with his mom and dad to their winter spot in Texas. He was a serious and skilled competitor at card and trivia games. He loved betting on the horses and playing pull tabs, and he was darn good at both.
He was a long-suffering Minnesota Vikings fan and helped found Tent City, the tailgating section outside of Vikings' games. He loved Minnesota Gophers' sports and teasing his friends and family members about any and all wins over the Fighting Sioux. He loved flannel shirts and listening to the Gear Daddies.
Brad treasured spending time with his sisters and parents. He adored his nieces and nephews especially, but many kids who weren't related to him grew up calling him "Uncle Brad."
Brad was a member of the North Dakota National Guard and New Hope Lutheran Church. He attended Alvarado Public Schools and North Dakota State University.
He is survived by his parents, Darrell and Cherryl, his sisters, Tara (Jeremy) Knutson and Erica (Chuck) Kuznia, his nieces and nephews, Kinley, Trever, Jax and Jett Knutson, Kien and Morgan Kuznia, his step grandparents, Gary and Judy Anderson, and his handsome, loving cat, Mister.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Darin, his uncles, Randy and Bradley Hanson, and Rick Olson, his grandparents Ralph and Vivian Hanson and Myron and Arlys Olson.
