I am at home today from University and was just "doodling" through my old address book from the 1980s.
For some reason I decided to Google Jim - probably because even though I only knew him for I guess about a week or so back in the late 1980s - the memory of that time has remained with me quite clearly.
I am saddened to hear that his life was not longer; Jim was someone to whom life was an adventure and he was definitely up in for the ride.
We spent pretty much the whole week I was in Vienna together when I visited I think in the EuroFall of 1988 (although it could have been 89 or even 90) and looking back I believe I got to know the essence of the man. They were crazy times, fun times. Whenever I see a Village People song clip I always think of Jim.
Although life 'intervened' and we didn't keep in touch, it remains nevertheless incontrovertibly true; that Jim was unforgettable!
I wish the Pearson family and Geunter the very best from Down Under here in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

Jim was my Elementary music instructor and I'm very lucky to say that. He effortlessly instilled a love of music and learning and had more enthusiasm and fun in him than a room of 30 third graders. What a great guy. Sincere empathy to his family and friends. We're all better off because of his influence. I was also born in Warren. What a lovely little place to have come into the world with people like Jim there first. Amen.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim and I had been friends since high school, where we both played in the trombone section. I remember his fabulous portrayal of Perchik in Fiddler On the Roof. He did it soooo well! We met up again in the Fargo-Moorhead area prior to his going to Austria, where we enjoyed much laughter and great company. One fond memory I have of Jim is when he came up to see me in the hospital in Warren when I was in 8th grade. I had pneumonia & pleurisy and he came up to see me, bringing flowers and lots of laughter. It hurt so much to breathe. let alone get through all the laughter. How could I be upset? He made me laugh but it hurt! At a later time, he and I were selected as the funniest & most gabby.....fun, fun memories. Jim was a marvelous person, possessing both quality musical and people skills. He had a genuine heart. He was a gem -someone I will never forget. He made a very positive impression on everyone he knew, I'm sure. He surely did me. Bless his memory and we grieve with you at this time.

I have many fun memories of Mr. Pearson, my neighbor on Elizabeth Street, music teacher, piano teacher, and family friend. I remember as a little girl picking hand fulls of dandelions for him and the thank you I would always get. Even though he didn't like them as weeds in his yard, he always told me he liked them as flowers from me. I remember mowing his lawn, piano lesson parties that included ping-pong in the basement, piano playing and singing at our house, turning pages of sheet music for him, occasions when he would attend our family Christmas parties, and Lincoln school plays/musicals he directed. I still think of him when I sing some crazy song he taught us in 2nd grade to my nieces and nephews. Those memories make me smile.

It has been our wonderful privilege to have known Jim. He was a dear friend and colleague. We are saddened by his struggle and his passing. His positive attitude toward life and toward children was such a gift.

Sorry for your loss. The best friend that a bereaved family can have is our Heavenly Father, God. May you find comfort as you pour out your heart to him in prayer because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7).

"Jamie" Pearson has been a friend of mine since childhood. There are lots and lots of fond memories of him and all of us growing up in that neighborhood together - from little funerals (and accompanying music, of course) for neighborhood pet birds and pet goldfish, pretend wedding ceremonies, forts in the woods, bird berry pies ... and on, and on, and on! I am so happy that our neighborhood was able to gather together last summer with 30+ neighborhood "kids" and families attending. It was a bittersweet day with both laughter and tears. I know Jamie didn't feel so well that day, but he put up a brave front and even more memories were made. Rest in peace now Jamie - and we will be there in July with your family to remember you and honor you.

Jamie was such a great friend growing up on Montana Street. So many fond memories of spending time at his house, taking piano lessons from his mom, and admiring his dad's beautiful garden. How truly blessed I was to know him and his kind heart. Jamie was about 9 years older than me but always had time to visit with me and teach me about music. My first memory of him was skipping with him in their huge back yard and singing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles. Jamie - your love and legacy lives on with your students and those hearts you touched along the way. You will forever be a part of my life. God Bless.
