Marie Magdalena Albaugh

Marie Albaugh, 92, of Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with her family by her side.

Marie Magdalena Renz was born on July 17, 1924, to Christ and Adeline (Reich) Renz, in Hazelton, ND. She grew up on a farm, the eldest of nine siblings. She was married to Ralph Robert Albaugh Sr. on November 18, 1940, and moved to Neche, ND, before returning home with her young daughter after Ralph was drafted. When the family was reunited, they moved to Radium, MN, to farm. Marie worked alongside Ralph and even drove the tractor! She was a devoted wife and showered her family with love every day. Ralph passed away on December 6, 2000.

Marie was very creative and excelled at sewing and embroidery, perfecting the feather stitch and french knot on dishcloths and other projects. She was also an excellent quilter, making each of her grandchildren a quilt nearly every Christmas. Marie enjoyed her soap operas, oftentimes making herself “unavailable” between 11-1:00, so she could catch up on the latest stories. She also loved to read, and did her daily devotional bible reading, pencil in hand, up to her last day on earth.

She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran in Radium, was member of the LWML, and taught preschool at Zion Lutheran for many years; all this in addition to working at the Good Samaritan for 29 years, retiring in 1986. She loved to travel with family and to visit family. She went on many road trips with her sisters. Though Marie never did get her drivers license and had a poor sense of direction she was a wonderful backseat driver! She even took a flight to Florida, despite her fear of flying, to see her brother. Her family was very important to her and she was blessed to meet all of her great and great-great grandchildren. Marie treasured the memories of her 90th birthday party which was one of the highlights of her last years.

Marie is survived by her children, Ralphine (Dale) Parent of Minneapolis, MN, Ralph Robert Jr. “Bob” (Judy) Albaugh of Grand Forks, ND, Terrance “Terry” (Deb) Albaugh of Radium, MN and Ruth (Ken Jr.) Beaudry of Owatonna, MN; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kimberly (Jon), Derek (Cindy), Jason, Tanya, Tara, Chris (Kari), Ben (Jodi), Zach, Melissa, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Beau, Natalie, Grace, Abby, Matthew, Quentin, Tyler, Izabella, Trestan, Clara, Anthony, Izack, Brandahlyn, Adelynah, and Brecstan; great-great-grandchildren, Jeramiah, Jada, Jacksen, Keeghan, and Kaysen; siblings, Irene, LouElla (Ralph), Richard (Bonnye), and Dianne (Ervin); and Elaine Pederson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sr.; her parents; and sisters, Leona, Clarabelle, Emma Jean, and Lillian.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Radium, MN.

Visitation: One hour before services.

Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Comstock Township, Marshall County, MN.
