Robert B. Edman

Robert Edman, 93, of Alvarado, MN, passed away on his birthday, June 30, 2015, in the Good Samaritan Center, Warren, MN.

Robert Bruce was born on June 30, 1922, in Alvarado, to Gustave and Marie (Sylvander) Edman. He was a lifelong resident of Alvarado and graduated from Alvarado High School before attending Dunwoody College of Technology. In 1944, Robert entered the US Navy and, following his honorable discharge, he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. Following his graduation, Robert returned to Alvarado where he worked as an electrician for Morris Olson Electric, Swift Electric, as well as for the Minnkota Power Coop. He also farmed with his brothers, Mark and Philip for many years.

Robert was a Master Welder who built a two-row beet lift and also used his skills to restore many pieces of old farm equipment with the help of his brothers. He was a member of Alvarado Baptist Church and donated generously to many charities over the years, including the Salvation Army.

Left to mourn his passing are his brother, Mark Edman of Alvarado; three sisters-in-law, Norma Edman of Benson, MN, Elizabeth Edman of Warren, MN, and Joan Edman of Ely, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Paul, James, Neal, and Philip; and two sisters, Carol Ranstrom, and Ruth Tatter.
 

Funeral Service: Friday, July 3, 2015, at 10:30 AM, in Grace United Methodist Church, Warren, MN.

Visitation: Thursday, July 2, from 5-7 PM, in DuBore Funeral Home Chapel, as well as one hour before the funeral service.
Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery, Alvarado, MN.
