Paul Meyer, 83, lifelong resident of Warren, MN, passed away on June 18, 2015, in the Good Samaritan Center, Warren.
Paul Edward was born on December 2, 1931, in Warren, the son of German immigrants Edward and Louise (Johannes) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren, and graduated from Warren High School. He was united in marriage to Sandra Holmgren in September of 1981.
Paul lived on his parents' farm his whole life and began working on the farm at a very young age. His passion for farming and learning never ceased. As a sophomore in high school, he had his first (and only) herd of sheep. After that, he found his love for beef cattle. At one time, he had over 100 head in his feedlot.
Paul never sat still. He joined the Marshall County Survey crew right out of high school and learned a lot in his two years there about land and drainage. One of his joys early in his career was clearing land and making what was once unproductive land into great farmland. Paul held various other jobs over the years including driving the school bus, working at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN, for six years, helping other locals with building and cement work, hauling seed wheat to Canada, and many other side jobs: though his first passion was always in farming.
He enjoyed barn dances and dances at the Eagle's Club in Thief River in his younger years, old time music, and going to the casino. Paul also frequented many of the cafes in the region and loved to meet new people and catch up with old friends.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Patti (Josh) Bjorneby of Grafton, ND; grandchildren, Molly and Tyler; sister, Elli Lucian of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Dale Zutz of Warren; and a handful of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, who passed away on October 18, 2002, Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Zutz and Margaret Flicek; and brother-in-law, Robert Lucian.
