William C. "Bill" Sedgeman

William C. "Bill" Sedgeman, 96, followed his wife into eternal life, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in his home, at the Good Samaritan Apartments, Warren, four days after she passed.

William Campbell Sedgeman was born on May 9, 1920, in Elcor, MN, to William Henry and Christine (Williams) Sedgeman. He was raised in Gilbert, MN, to a mining family, and graduated from high school there in 1938. He attended Virginia (MN) Junior College, and was a great athlete there and all his life, playing baseball, football and hockey; even skating up until he was 80 years old. Bill worked for mining companies as a supervisor for much of his career, employed by Pickands Mather & Company for 43 years.

On August 8, 1948, William and Marie were united in marriage, and the couple made their home in Gilbert. They had two sons, William and David, and Marie stayed home to raise them. They moved to several different area towns over the years for Bill's job, including Ironton, Hoyt Lakes, and Aurora, MN. They were longtime members of the Aurora United Methodist Church. Bill was active in the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency and on the MN Utility Investors Committee for many years.

In 2005, Marie and Bill moved to Warren, MN, to live closer to their son, and became active members in the Warren community, attending the Grace United Methodist Church.

The Sedgeman's were a great example of Christian marriage and were truly best friends. Bill was the treasurer for the St. Louis County Council on Aging even after they moved away, and Marie always went with him to keep him company on the long drive north: they loved spending time together. When her health began to fail, Bill was determined to take care of Marie in their home; he succeeded, outliving her just long enough to make her funeral arrangements.

Bill and Marie are survived by their sons, William P. (Carol) Sedgeman of Warren, and David A. (Karen) Sedgeman of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Peter, Joel (Noreen), Adam (Krista), and Kara Sedgeman; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral Service for Bill & Marie: Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 11:00 AM, in the Evangelical Covenant Church of Warren (MN); with visitation one hour prior.
Interment: Gilbert (MN) Cemetery, in the Spring of 2017.
